You could say a river runs through it, since Rifle straddles the Colorado River. It's located in a portion of the Colorado River Valley, sometimes referred to as the Grand Valley since the Grand River is an older name.

Well, according to local chamber's of commerce, this area of Colorado boasts over 300 days of sunshine per year.
